We recently stumbled across an amazing small business on Instagram. Once we stopped drooling over the cheesecakes we decided it was time to investigate further. Much to our excitement Riverside Cheesecakes was located an easy 5 minute walk from our studio.
We placed our order for a Crunchie cheesecake & headed over for a photoshoot.
Our guest blog was written by Louise the creator of Riverside Cheesecakes
My name is Louise, Im 41 years young and live in Nantwich. I am by profession a
primary school teacher and have worked in local schools as a EYFS teacher until 2014.
I now work three days per week as a teacher in a private day nursery. I have two
children aged 9 and 19.
I never intended to start a business!
This time last year I had made Easter cheesecakes for my family, everyone said they were delicious. The more I made and placed on my Facebook page the more people wanted to try them. After amazing feedback I thought that maybe I could start earning extra money by selling them. So I went for it and that is how my business began!
When my business started out, I did my research and realised there was a gap in the market for good quality homemade cheesecakes in Nantwich and surrounding areas. I felt I could offer a unique service catering for individual needs and for all occasions. I decided on no bake cheesecakes, as this allows me not to be tied to the oven all the time!
I love being creative! I have to have things 100% and I am a firm believer that you eat with
your eyes! I’ll be honest and say there is no better feeling when I show my customers their cheesecake and they say "wow" or "that looks amazing". I get such unbelievably nice
messages and reviews about them, that it makes me love making them all the more. My
customers are the loveliest of people, I am so lucky to of met them. I am thrilled that
I can cater for dietary needs too, such as gluten free or vegan.
The most popular flavours are the Eton Mess, Lemon Meringue, salted caramel and
anything chocolate based!
A couple of years ago I got diagnosed with some serious long term chronic conditions.
I had a 'woe me' 6 months, then decided life was too short to mope about and I was
determined to do what I want to do, when I can. I love being creative and this has
been the perfect outlet. I thought I would try to make this a business and if it
didn’t work, at least I can say ‘I tried’!
