With most things regarding weddings the first step is to outline a budget with your partner. This may not be the fun part but its important! The biggest factors for a tipi wedding will be the tipi hire & food.

Write a guest list, even if its rough. You will need to know numbers in order to work out the size or how many tipis you require. Most tipis interconnect to create one event space, which leads us into our next point, what else would you like in the tipi? Dance floor, bar, kids area etc. The best thing to do would be to write a list of everything you would like and rank the areas by most important. This way if you need to cut down on expenses later on, refer to the list & cut from the bottom.

Once you have your guest list & additional areas, shop around for tipi hire quotes. Be sure to ask for a list of inclusions (what each company provide with hire) For example walkways, matts, fairy lights, table settings, heaters etc. If possible find a company that includes generators & toilet hire so there’s one less thing for you to stress about. Going by our golden rule of getting minimum three quotes, you will get a rough idea of where your budget fits in & which company provides the most for a reasonable price.

Gather a list of locations for your wedding! Majority of tipi companies will recommend venues or locations where they have set up before, if none of those spots have jumped out at you then check with your local council. If you have a location in mind, make sure its as flat as possible, large enough to fit the tipi & has an access point for the truck to deliver. Prior to booking the field I would recommend checking with your tipi supplier to avoid any drama later on.

Once you’ve found your location & tipi company, lets talk food! As its a blank canvas you can have whatever you want. Thats a massive bonus of having a tipi wedding. If you’re thinking of getting caterers you need to be mindful that they will need to set up & cook somewhere. Another option is to hire food trucks & let your guests choose what they would like to eat.

A great local option is Jordy’s pizza - a mobile wood-fired pizza truck, check them out here

A few other points to consider is lighting for when its dark outside, where will everyone park & a safe way for your guests to get home!

Last but not least enjoy planning your Cheshire tipi wedding! You have more control over what options you have & its a great option for a relaxed semi-outdoor wedding.
